Enjoy Beautiful Scottsdale
Soak up the amazing artistry of the Scottsdale Artists’ School, The dozens of galleries of Old Town Scottsdale, The Museum of the West, and The Contemporary Art Museum, all within walking distance to one another.
Overcome the flat, stiff, colorless look associated with painting from a photograph. Join award winning artist Timothy Rees as he presents the concepts and a process to overcome the negative traits associated with working from photographs.
Participants will work from a reference photo (either their own or one that is provided) and move step by step with Timothy as he paints a portrait in a setting. Even with a poor reference, the dimensionality of the subject can be enhanced, the colors can glow, and the painting can achieve great depth. Participants will learn how to create a finished painting while learning directly applicable aspects of drawing, color, and paint application. No longer let a photograph reference keep you from infusing dimensionality and life into your painting!
