Western Dusk
Painted for a workshop at the Scottsdale Artists’ School titled “Bringing Life to Painting from Photographs”, this painting illustrates my typical studio practice. A delicate contour drawing was transferred to the canvas, and colorful paint was built up from thin to thick, with final strokes following the direction of form. The invented background, conceived from a color sketch, adds drama and light.
